Is there a way to block all these stupid ads?

I didn’t come here for a hookup or to refinance my home. Is there a way to block all of these idiotic ads and their links from showing up as posts by “members”?

Bikinis, hot girls fishing, Victoria’s Secret, miniskirts

There...... if they are going to hammer me with targeted ads, then it might as well be pics of something interesting!

We have been down this road before, a couple of months ago to be exact.

Yes, there are ad blockers one can get for the their PC or tablet. This does however, as was explained by the forum owner, cut down on their revenue from these ads that help to keep this site free of charge.

I’ve not been on here in a while so I guess I missed that. I don’t mind a few ads, but this is ridiculous.... pop ups, phony posts, eBay everywhere. A bit too much unless he is wanting to buy Boeing or something.

Hey, I'm with you. I couldn't even post at times when using my iPad as the ads covered up most of the post. Even on my laptop it gets bad.

There are ad blockers out there, and I know the owner doesn't like us to use them but I couldn't even read posts. I use AdGuard and it works great.

It is this Advantis series of I-don't-know-or-care-what-for pop ups in the middle of posts that are a serious detriment to our Forum. I understand we need adds for the company to prosper but lets have them in the margins not in the middle of posts and during trying to write a post....truly off-putting.

Please Ownership and Moderators, something has to be done about these overly intrusive videos.

Labradorguy, if you do a search of the forum you'll find a number of threads complaining about the ads. Bottom line: the site needs the ads to pay for the site; if you really want to block them you can look into one of the various adblocker apps available. Even if you use an adblocker you can "whitelist" sites that you are willing to allow ads on.

I've got a MacBook Air and use Adblocker Plus for Safari--works great and I can whitelist sites and selectively block various ads.

I tried to put up with the ads for a long time in support of the forum administration. However, it finally became too much of a distraction with the recent introduction of (highly annoying) video ads. So, I reluctantly installed a free ad block program and they are gone. I would gladly pay a yearly user fee if that would help offset my freedom from advertisements.

Totally agree. The videos are just too much. I would rather pay a fee too.

On my iPhone they’re not much of a problem. I’m careful to not hit the ad with my thumb as I scroll...usually. Occasionally I’ll accidentally tap one, but I’ve gotten pretty good at avoiding them. No bikini models or hookup ads though...what am I doing wrong?! It’s mostly eBay or sporting goods places.

Most of my adds appear at the bottom of the page...unless of course, as I am writing this, they cover up the reply box!! A bit annoying. I to have not seen one bikini girl!

I've offered a few different times (and here it is again) to pay up to $20 per year for an ad free membership. So far... no luck. I'm also with S&S on this. I want to support this site. Ads are fine, as long as you don't have to bob, weave and dodge them at every turn.

I don't know how hard it is to offer a membership fee to remove ads. Even $9.95 a year would be more revenue than they would get from me if I used an adblocker. If the price were $9.95, I'd even be willing to put up with tastefully placed ads that didn't get in the way. At this level, maybe our corporate sponsors could place ads. Clicking on those links could be yet another source of revenue for this site. Hint, hint, hint...

I'm running a Mac with a Safari browser, and I don't seem to be seeing the ads you guys are seeing. I don't run an ad, or pop up blocker other than what is provided by my browser. Since the new format change the site is much better, as far as annoying ads go. I don't at all miss the page reloading every 30 seconds and the posts and text bouncing around, but that again may be just down the road as they rebuild the forum format.

For the most part, I just have an ad at the top and bottom of the page, with no audio.

I'm OK
No other site that I have been on has had the annoying ad that floats into the screen. I’m not a web guy, but there has to be a way to pull in the cash without these things. And no, I’ll not be paying to play. I like the site and the info here without all the BS you get on some places. Ditch the pop up things and life would be good.

Thanks for all the good info guys. Problem solved. The ad blocker works perfectly. I’ll gladly turn it off if they want to reign it in a little bit, but this is just crazy! I’ve been on porn sites with less pop-ups.... 😂😂😂
