shame on me after living in AK on the kenai penin those 6 yrs I was not really interested in targeting upper kenai bows. I was fishing for silvers. But my last year I decided to pull my head out. and started fishing up by cooper landing.

I also decided to buy me some black/purple maribou muddlers at trustworthy hdware in Soldotna. I also bought olive marabout mm's and white and let me tell ya, every single cast almost. they work just as well as beads and flesh flies.

I caught bows and Dollies all day long on them. grab some, the maribou can also act as a flesh fly sort of but when they see that big head and underbelly they're going for the meal. I used a rio versi tip 9wt. had a blast

Great info. Thanks for sharing. If you don’t mind me asking, did you float or access from the road?

I've had trout take cohoe flies at the confluence of the Kenai and Russian river. They seem to be partial to black flies. I guess the black stands out better in the opaque water.
