Welcome Hawkman, it's a great sport to be hooked on. Some people fall in love with the art of fly fishing, others, like myself, are fishermen who love to fly fish. Whichever way your path leads you I hope you'll enjoy this wonderful sport for many years to come.
Ah, there is so much to love. I really enjoy the catching of the fish but for me there is so much more to it. I love the gear and the feel of being in the cold river with towering pine trees around you and the animals that are there. The insects and the blue sky. The flex of the rod and the arc of the fly line. Laying down that dry fly and watching the flash as a trout from down deep turns to begin the ascent to grab the offering. Reading the water and knowing what it is going to do to your line before you lay it down. Seeing the huge trout ten feet down in that hole that you know you could never present a fly well enough to catch and then trying anyway. Sometimes, at the end of the day when I have nipped the fly off the end of my tippet, I will just spend a half hour casting. Roll casting is my favorite. I love to watch it lift from the water and roll along the river. Yep, this one is a keeper.
