re: "The 2020 Miracle XL+"

Four Christmas boxes are away, with one more set to head off with tomorrow's mail. To you all, my heartfelt thanks for thinking of "my kids" and me, especially at this time of year.

As for yours truly? It's back to the vise after the addition of a log or two to the wood stove. It's 8 degrees here right now, with a wind chill somewhere south of -15...

My best to one and all...

Windwarrior,

Hope your New Year's was a good one, and that plans are in the making for the angling trips of 2020. And, by the way, "my kids" all said "Hi" back at you, my friend.

Take good care, and wade 'em safe...

Jerry, aka hairwing530

PS The first two boxes of 2020 ship with tomorrow's mail... JW

And, with the first of the 2020 boxes safely enroute, another batch is in its final stages for shipment later this week. My thanks to you all who've decided to get an early start on the coming season. It makes the workload on this aging tier much easier to handle, and keeps me busy during the short days of Winter, with something other than long-overdue "Honey Projects" and my share of wood splitting.

Here's to Spring, and the kickoff of the 2020 trout seasons. My best to you all...

Jerry thank you very much in working with me to customize a “Housatonic and Farmington rivers” edition of this box. These are beauties and very well made! Some photos below. I started moving some to my Tacky box which I always have on hand. The bonus bugs look interesting and will be in my “hail Mary” collection.

Curtis,

Better late than never, my friend! Thank you for your kind words. I'm going to hold you to that "repeat customer" promise.

Fish 'em hard, Curtis, and give me a shout when you need a refill. And, as always, thanks again for thinking of "my kids" and me...

My best to you and yours...

Over the next few days, six or more boxes will depart the chilly confines of Grayling and head to their new homes. I've been a bit off my game this month, as I've had to help the families of two of "my kids" deal with the loss of their child. And, to be completely honest, the eulogies spoken by yours truly are getting harder to bear, especially with the 10-year anniversary of the loss of our youngest daughter to leukemia closing in on this household. Lately, the eulogies seem to be hitting even closer to home...

Please excuse the lament, my friends. I just wanted to post an update on pending boxes. My best to one and all... always...

A quick update before hitting the vise again... Six boxes made good on their escape earlier this week, and I plan to finish up another two or three before the first of the new week is upon us. I've found that spending more time than usual wrapping hooks keeps my feeble mind busy, and doesn't allow me to dwell on the recent losses.

Windwarrior, thanks for the kind words, my friend. Always appreciated...

Have a great weekend, everybody, and if you're going to be on the water, wade 'em safe...

It struck me recently that I hadn't updated this thread on the progress of boxes closing in on the finish line. Suffice to say, there have been a bunch shipped over these past few weeks, with more slated for their final ties in the coming days. As the boxes are packed and readied, I'll be sure to send off tracking numbers, my friends.

With this week's tying class in the books, I'm headed back to the vise that sits within my old roll-top desk for a few "marathon" sessions. Hoping that one and all are having a great weekend, and thankful for those who've thought about "my kids" and me.

Take good care, my friends... always...

And, another half-dozen have made good on their escape from the confines of the cabin. The runoff season has started in a big way, and the "flying mud" challenge-- the 1.3-mile drive to the mailbox from our driveway --officially has begun.

Let me know when you get 'em, guys, and if you're already fishing, wade safe! I'm soon to be paying another visit to my orthopedic specialist after recently damaging the left Achilles/ankle again.

Until then, you'll find me at the vise. Have a good one, everybody, and thanks again for thinking of "my kids" and me...

My “2020 Miracle XL+” box and “emergency bass bugs” arrived today. I am amazed and impressed! Can’t wait for tomorrow, I am heading to the Brazos to tempt some stockers before they all go away.

I will be ordering more!

Thanks, Jerry!

Jerry,

First I have to build my argument to convince my wife why I need an 8wt saltwater rod and reel! I’m easing in to that. 😉

Before this coming weekend, look for another large group of boxes to be departing via USPS Priority Mail. It's been rough of late, as the shipping time from some of my usual suppliers of hooks, hackle and the like has been doubled or tripled, thanks to skeleton crews. Hopefully, once my next orders arrive, I'll be in good shape for a decent amount of time.

Stay safe, my friends, and keep an eye on your health...
