I need some advice. I recently ordered my wife a Jackson Cruise 12. I currently have a Jackson Bite. Together both are around 67” wide. I’m planning on transporting them both on a modified utility trailer using a galvanized 1” pipe as cross bars. If I carry them flat on their hulls I think I’ll need the cross bar to be around 78 - 80 inches or maybe more. That will give me enough space in between the yaks so they are not bumping each other. Then about 4 inches on each end to tie down the cam buckles. For Padding I will use the dense foam blocks. I found the extra large pool noodles compress too much on long trips.

My second option is to use one or two sets of J cradles that can carry 70 pounds. I think Malone and other rack makers have these.

The longest trip will be about 6 hours when we go to the beach.

Thoughts?

If you have a utility trailer, try mounting schedule 30 PVC tubes longways so the PVC supports the boats on the length of their hulls.
