Another April has arrived!
The Robin's are back, Moutain Bluebirds, Geese are in a fighting mood while nesting....watched a Male grab another male by the neck, and hold him underwater for a long rapid section..
The flows are increasing in a stair step pattern.
Close to 600cfs so wading is less advised...
The color is a sweet green shade that is fishy at a glance.
A switch rod shines in these conditions. Barely get my shoe laces wet.
Water temp is steady at 52deg.
Bug wise, the Skwalla are almost done for another year......sigh.
Caddis are starting to show.
Think the Carpenter Ants are on deck...tie or buy.
Occassional surface eats, but predominately nymphing. Baetis are still on the menu, and a midge of course.
Pink worms are a special in my bug net...
Summer is coming too soon.
Fish now.

Somehow my ski mode doesn't end until July.... I should change that. I've fished the lower T a few times off 80, but never any success.

May in Mammoth is a perfect time. Spring snow is good sometimes great and the sierra season just opens. It's great to ski in the morning and fish in the aftetnoon.

Tahoe is farther from me in LA so when I go there it is to ski. I should really think about combining both. I guess the T is open all year?

Just love how a local fish report is turned into a wanna be east side ski report.
After 40 years in a ski town, I know you're not really a skier if you live anywhere else.
(Could be a correlation to fishing....)
I'm over skiing, and don't need to know about it..especially 4-5hrs from here! Go post a fish report on a ski forum maybe...jeez...
I'm here to inform fish wise for the Truckee.....(try and focus...)
I tell you when it's good, you guys can figure it out from there......
Google is great for that. Regs etc...they are all new...
I think Mammoth is a good call.....No snow here, no fish either.

I give people the benefit of a doubt especially during these stressful times...

Gave you the benefit the first time skiing was the topic.
Some folks fish, some talk about it.
I've been consistant here for 10 yrs....
Start east side posts if you prefer....or SoCal....
I have no interest, or I would move there!
If you actually want to learn the T just ask....ready to help if needed.

Yesterday we had a fine day on the water....
Some clients just get it.
They aren't hoping for a fish, they are making it happen.
Water flows are perfect if you have developed some game..
Starting to be a bit buggy, and fish are looking up.
Ski resorts are closing, so the numbers of fIshers is going up.
Going to be tough this summer....don't wait.
