In a recent thread I mentioned big eyed hooks, because of my failing eyesight. Well I've discovered some beauts. They are called carp method feeder hooks, straight eyed, round bend, barbless, and very strong, had a very fit 4lb rainbow run me out to 50 yards or so twice, it also leaped three or four times and the 16# still held fast. the 16# will take a 0.2 mm tippet if required. I don't know if they are available in the US but they are labelled as NGT hooks. I've seen them on Ebay at around $4/25 but I pay £1/25 at the local shop.
Most of my flies are now going onto those hooks such is my confidence in them.
