Default Re: Kayak Question

I spent some time the other day at the paddle shop of the LLBean flagship store in Freeport. I needed some things to fix an old canoe... which of course they didn't have...
Anyway, I noticed that they didn't even sell "sit-on-tops". I guess it's just too cold on the Maine coast to bother to stock them.
Personally I'm very comfortable in my "sit-in" into November in bare feet and shorts
Just sayin'

Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game Angler Kayak - Austin Kayak - Product Details

The Jacksons are very impressive. Here is one by Ocean Kayaks that seems to read like it's a great kayak for big guys,,or standing. It's a couple inches wider than the Jackson I 'think.' Although, I do like the lay out of the Jackson a little better. I believe either would be a fine river and lake vessel.
Sometimes I wish instead of a kayak I'd have purchased a straight side, flatish bottom canoe of extra beam width...as I am more familiar with a canoe and already wishing that's what I'd bought this time around.
