Default Utah meteor/comet sighting....

Two nights ago we had a very impressive light show. Check out this news story and also the various video footage. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=8714738

I sure wish I could have seen this.

Fysh: It's kind of amazing someone was able to catch that event on film!

The 'U of U' just started up their new observatory in southern Utah. I think they just put themselves on the map with their footage.

I was driving along and suddenly the night shadows dissappeared. Daytime at night!
Wondered for a while if my med levels were exceeded, or was stroking out.
Glad to know there was another reason for the extra light.

Cool video. I saw one this fall but nearly as impressive as that one. The one I saw had chunks peeling off and then it went bright and vanished. Not bright enough to make it daylight or anything, but a good flash never the less.

The Russians are planning a mission to change the orbit of a real big near Earth orbiting asteroid named Apophis. It's supposed to bounce off the atmosphere, and then depending on it's departure window, return and maybe smack the planet directly.
