Thread: Hidey Ho, Neighbors!

  1. Default Hidey Ho, Neighbors!

Hello fellow anglers! I'm Ben and I'm in the southeast Texas/southwestern Louisiana area. I've been fishing for several years now but I'm a total newbie and a HUGE fan of catchin' 'em on a fly! I'm 28 years old, and I fish with my soon to be wife and step-daughter as often as I can.

Just wanted to introduce myself and I look forward to chattin' y'all up soon!!!

Welcome to the forum Ben, lots of good folks on this site. I don't know if we have any active members who live in your area but we do have several who fish that region. Looking forward to reading of your adventures.

I was going fly fishing until my wife suggested it, now I can't tell who is outsmarting who!

Being "one with nature" requires a knowledge of what animals are living nearby and a weapon of sufficient magnitude to give you at minimum an equal chance of survival. No one has an invisible aura that animals can detect and sense your good intentions.

Thanks for the welcome, guys! I've got a fly rod and reel and am slowly figuring out this casting thing. Pretty soon, I'll be tying some flies and, once everything warms up, I'll be wading out into the marsh flats!

I've got some goals set actually: hit the Big 4 (black drum, red fish, speckled trout, and flounder) and *hopefully* get a tag-sized red on a fly!
