Default What 's the best season for a trip to Bull Shoals?

I'm looking ahead on vacation planning and fishing tailwater is one of the options. What are the times to go or avoid?

I'd be wading and tent camping.

My best trips have been in mid-summer and fishing at night (for bass.) Not sure that will work with your plans to wade. Truth is, there's not a lot of wadable water there, depending upon lake levels. A better bet might be trout fishing below Bull Shoals dam. Depending upon the weather and river levels, that can often be best during winter or early spring.

The Caddis hatch is on! We are at Copper John's RV, about a mile below the Dam. They were thick on the river last evening.

Heading out with Ryan (of Copper Johns) this afternoon for a guide trip.

thank you for this. I obviously missed the hatch, but am doing some strategic planning and advance budgeting for several excursions, including a trip next year. May is a month with decent possibilities.

    Very helpful.
