Default Idaho to Minnesota? Yeah!

Hey fellow flyfishermen and women! I find that lake fishing is a whole HECK of a lot different than standing in a nice mountain stream, but it's still a blast. Any tips for getting down to the crappie and pike would be appreciated. I'm also trying to get info on a South Bend Bait Co flyrod I found at an antique shop, it's an 8 1/2' split bamboo 4 piece, with model number 359 just above the grip. It was in a factory light cotton bag with the South Bend Bait Co label on it, and it came with two tip sections. It also came with a Royalist 370 reel. Does anyone know what weight this rod is, and about what year it was produced?
