  1. Default Hi from Northern California

    Hello everyone,
I just moved out here to Redding, California from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I was looking at some fly fishing websites to get some information on the area and came across this forum. What a great site this is for getting tips and info on everything. I'll be spending a lot of time reading through threads and posts. I look foreword to talking with everyone.

    Hi egrosven,

Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to your participation. Well you have been lucky to have lived in two good spots for fly fishing. You should Visit The Fly Shop in Redding the first chance you get. It is a great fly shop.

Welcome to the group! I second Frank's recommendation on spending some time at The Fly Shop. The name of the place may be generic, but that's about all that is.

Let us know how we can help!

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.

If the salmon are still running you are in for a treat. Throw an egg pattern behind the salmon and get ready for a good time. The trout up there follow the salmon and you will catch some very nice fish. The bad news is that you may be a month too late. As a fly fisherman you picked a great place to live.

    Frank and Big Cliff,

Thank you for your response. I've been to the Fly shop in Redding and you could say I’m a regular face in there. It is a very nice fly shop and the staff is very friendly.

The fall run on the sac has pretty mush petered down and the run itself was very poor. I've been fishing on the Trinity the past couple of weeks for steelies and have done just great. You should get up there.
