Thread: Hello

  1. #1

Default Hello from the high desert

I've been tying and fly fishing for about 8 months now and have caught over 100 trout and a couple dozen crappie with the fly rod. I fish about 2-4 times a month in Southern California. My 8 spinning rods have been collecting dust. I have almost zero interest in spin fishing now. I guess this is how it starts... Glad to be part of the board.

I know the feeling.... I came across the tubes with my spinning rods while working on another project this weekend, and realized that none had been out of the tubes since late-August last year! I was deployed for Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee then, and it was while I was working around all of those beautiful (though partially destroyed) trout streams in the Catskill's that I caught the fly-fishing bug!

So welcome to the forum, Pilgrim! Hope to hear more from you and your fishing adventures!

"To go fishing is the chance to wash one's soul with pure air, with the rush of the brook, or with the shimmer of sun on blue water. It brings meekness and inspiration from the decency of nature, charity toward tackle-makers, patience toward fish, a mockery of profits and egos, a quieting of hate, a rejoicing that you do not have to decide a darned thing until next week. And it is discipline in the equality of men - for all men are equal before fish."
