Thread: New from Austin, TX

    Default New from Austin, TX

    Hi all,
After years of watching people catch white bass on the San Gabriel fly fishing I decided it was time for me to join in the fun. Of course the spawn was over by the time I bought my combo but that just gives me time to learn what I'm doing before next years run. Been fishing some small ponds so far. Have only caught some small bass and sunfish so far but I'm trying. If anyone in central Texas wants to go fishing I'm ready.

Hello & welcome. Bass & panfish on a flyrod is a hoot, have fun with it.

Definitely fun. I bought a 4wt combo and am already thinking about a 2wt for the small creek/pond fish I have been catching. This is as addicting as motorcycling. Bought a motorcycle last summer to save money on gas and have spent more money customizing than I have saved on gas.

Not much in the way of Bass fishing in my area (unless you've got access to a boat) but before moving to my present location we had a huge lake just 5 minutes away. Dogs down there for their afternoon exercise/sniffing about and I'd toss small bass flies with a 3wt. Total hoot if/when you hooked one.
