About Me

  • About ts47
    Biography
I come from a past of bass fishing with crank baits, spinners and plastics. I really only got serious about fly fishing 4 years ago (2011). There's something about it that I find more rewarding, even on those days when the fishing doesn't go my way.

I've taken to teaching Boy Scouts how to fly fish and am fortunate enough to have an 12 year old son who wants to be a part of my classes and the sport.

My primary fishing holes are located around Hagerstown (Beaver Creek, Owens Creek, Big Hunting Creek) and in Garrett County (North Branch of the Potomac, Savage River, Casselman River), Maryland. My son and I have fished from our home waters, to steelhead in New York and smallmouth bass in Canada.

Fly rods in my current quiver include Hardy Zeniths, St Croixs (Legend Elite & Imperial), Redington CTs, a BVK and an Orvis Clearwater 2. This doesn't include the gear that is dedicated for Boy Scout use. That's another story though.

Good things come to those who wade...

And YES... the answer is always, "It depends".
