Does anybody have any info on good rivers/lakes on the Eastern Shore? I am over there on a regular basis but have never thought to take a rod.

in upper queen anne's county their is a plcae called unicorn lake that is stocked with trout. and a few other smaller places, but not much on the way of trout, it's mostly bass and pan fish in farm ponds, or perch running up the small streams.

Lower Delaware has a lot of nice ponds great for bass crappie and gills. Here is a link http://www.fw.delaware.gov/Fisheries...ndBooklet.aspx there is also a lot of salt water to cover too. What part of the shore do you visit?

I don't always fly fish but when I do I prefer salt water. Stay salty my freinds

Does anyone here fish the patomac aroung Greenridge state forest and Shepherd University? I go to school at Shepherd and have been fishing the patomac for years. Ive caught tons of bass on spinner rods but have trouble getting bass to take flies, streamers etc... All of the bass ive caught on the fly rod have been on streamers in fast moving rapids and im under the impression it is because they dont get good looks at the streamers and take them. Does anyone have any information on how to get these suckers in slack water or other areas? Thanks.
A pinch of Skoal and a Marlin dancing in the spread, what a life.

do you weight your line so it get's down deeper? give that a shot, and try some diffrent patterns with lot's of flash, just like with spinner rod lures, fly's with lot's of flash attract bass. and finally expirment with diffrent ways to present the fly so it makes the bass want to strike.

There's a circular for mid-atlantic fly fishing streams at every fly shop in the area. The most recent (May) issue has an article on Town Creek in Greenridge State park. I haven't read it yet, but you might try looking at it for pointers.

Newbie here and I played hookie yesterday afternoon for my 2nd fly fishing trip. I went to Morgan Run and in 3 hours had 4 bows and 3 browns, 1 miss and a chub.

Good morning. I'm new to fly fishing and kind of new to the area. I'm planning on taking my Dad fishing on the Gunpowder today. Since it's been raining for a couple days I'm guessing that the river will be running high and murky. Any clue if it will be better closer to the damn (ie where there is less influence by murky feeder streams)? Any if it is fast and or murky, does anyone have any suggestions on what type of flies to use? Thanks!

Hey I gotta agree with Stonebow, garrett county rocks! I am from Allegany County and I'll admit I don't flyfish, but I have caught very nice trout on spinners in both the Yough and Savage and on several creeks in Allegany County. But watch out, the water in the Savage River is freezing!

I also agree its hard to beat the fishing in western MD.
I had a chance to fish big hunting creek in Thurmont just north of Frederick last week and it produced 5 nice brookies and 1 small brown.
