  1. Default Lake Erie Steelhead December 2012 Update

My fly fishing equipment and skills are minimal, but I have learned to use wooly buggers, nymphs and egg patterns to catch steelhead. Lake Erie tributaries make even me look like an accomplished angler.

This month some of the best winter action will take place. Just keep in mind that December steelhead fishing success is affected by weather. Stream flow, air & water temperatures, or early winter snow could make or break a trip. The good news in all of that is the “fish bite”, especially on jigs, and buggers, improves as winter arrives. Fishing pressure drops as the holidays approach so invite a friend to serve as your net-man and to run the camera!

Currently water level and color are near perfect. Here is a photo of a fishing buddy taken December 3, 2012 - 11.5# Elk Creek on a single egg.

All anglers anticipate that December will be a great month to fish Lake Erie tributaries.

    Jack

Thumbs down Re: Lake Erie Steelhead December 2012 Update

While I can certainly appreciate the beauty of the fish this post seems suspect to me. Looks to me to be an advertisement to follow a Twitter account--which I believe is against the rules.

A boga grip for a Steelhead? Seriously?

I re-read my post and have edited, I suppose it came across wrong at first. My issues are with with the boga grip--I guess a matter of personal ethics/preferences and the re-direct promoting a Twitter account which I'm pretty sure is against the forum rules.

Bogas' do more harm than good in my opinion, at least he's not letting the thing hang vertical though. I wouldn't say you wrong, maybe a bit strong but comical none the less!
