Bass on Topwater Poppers

Even though the water is still chilly in the Raritan Bay we are getting some nice fish on the fly. Smaller fish are taking poppers like Bobs Bangers in shallow water 4-10ft deep.

Nicely done! I was recently skunked hard in cliff wood beach. Hitting up the Navesink this weekend. Not going to lie, hoping I run into the first wave of totally aggro big blues!

Caught about 20 yesterday in Mississippi on yellow popper (Sage 5 wt). The warm weather is here; soon in Mid Atlantic!

One of the best fish on poppers and surface flies. Love the aggression, and crash! Wish I had some good bass to forget the gently cast once and awhile.
