From RIO:

RIO Products, manufacturer of fly lines, leaders and tippet material, is excited to introduce a mid-season launch of a new series of sink tips for the Skagit and Spey angler called iMOW’s (“Intermediate MOW’s”) .

The new iMOW tips are based on RIO’s hugely successful MOW tips but built to have a better depth transition between the floating head and the fast sinking tip. The tips are built with an intermediate back section that helps create an even presentation of the fast sinking tip and allow for perfect depth control and the utmost in strike detection.

The new tips come in two sizes – Heavy (built with T-14 sinking tips, and featuring a translucent blue intermediate section), and Medium (built with T-11 sinking tips, and featuring a translucent green intermediate section).

Within each size there are four different sink tip length and density options: 1) 10 ft clear-camo intermediate, 2) a 7.5 ft intermediate with 2.5 ft sink tip, 3) a 5 ft intermediate with 5 ft sink tip, and 4) a 2.5 ft intermediate with 7.5 ft sink tip. The single density iMOW tips retail for $19.95 and the dual-density tips will retail for $24.95 at a RIO dealer.

Well, well, well ... RIO's come back out with a version of their 'Cheaters.' These were 2.5 to about 6 foot long and went between the floating head and the sink tip. Idea with the 'cheaters,' and here too, is the floating head wants to keep the sink tip from doing just that.

Without a 'cheater' of some sort (you can just use a couple of feet of heavy mono) a major portion of any sink tip is a total waste of time.
