Thanks Rip Tide - interesting read. I just gave it a quick scan but will peruse it this afternoon. It makes me wonder about the affairs of my own DNR in MN.

Very interesting read. Looks like there may be changes in the near future. The state funding is very different for each of the New England states, but no explanation as to why.

Here in Missouri, the voters approved a sales tax in 1976 to be used strictly for conservation. Other state entities have been attempting to get their hands on the money ever since. The funds appear to be very well managed and other state agencies that seem to be unable to manage their money are very critical of the tax and the conservation department. I'll gladly pay this tax as long as I live here. It is one of the few taxes I pay that is spent responsibly and has a long-term return-on-investment. Frankly, without our great outdoor recreation areas...this state would suck!
