There's a video from a while back of a guy catching a good-sized one in D.C. area. Not my favored quarry, but if I happen to be in the area, yeah, I'll chase them for $200 bucks a fish I'll just probably wear kevlar-lined gloves while landing them...

They are a ugly fish, I would definately use Kevlar gloves.

Funny how things get twisted when a story gets passed around. MD is not offering a bounty. What they are offering is a chance to win a gift card.

Everyone who is fishing legally & catches & kills a Snakehead in MD waters is eligible, as long as you take a picture & send it to the DNR. They'll put your name in a drawing for a gift card. No bounty, just a chance to win.

Their teeth is nothing worse than a Pickerel's, or a Bowfin/Mudfish's plus they have less nuisance bones than any of the Esox family and taste a lot better than the Bowfin. (Grinnel, Dogfish, etc) They do put up a nice fight and hit flys and lures readily.

Now that makes far more sense .... given the number (I assume) of these things, $200 a pop could get damned expensive.
