I hooked in to one but it came off. We spent most of the time scoping out spots from the bank, next time we will fish a lot more than we did.

I couldn't believe it, just before dark a trout was actually rising to eat from the surface.

I have to say, MA stocked rainbows are much prettier than the ones they stock in RI. RI stocks good sized fish as well but they have barely any color, I was amazed at the pink speckling on the rainbows I saw today.

Edit* By "we" I mean Elizabeth and I.

Ya they rise there year round I couldn't believe it when I first saw it either. The only thing they consistently hit there is the San Juan worm red and orange. I have yet got skunked there using them. Where did you guys fish the y pool? Did you see any salmon?

I tried a white San Juan with no luck, they barely looked at it. I wanted to bring red and brown but my local fly shop has either been closing early or not opening at all lately so I wasn't able to pick up red or brown chenile. I got the one fish on with a 16 bead head hares ear (didn't have any non toxic split shot) and a size 18 zebra midge, it took the midge.

Liz and I hit the Y pool for a couple minutes before decided to explore the area, we ended up fishing closer to the first foot bridge. Didn't see any salmon.

Hey Alex, great to meet both of you, too! Glad to hear you enjoyed yourselves. Any day you can fool a Swift River bow into eating your fly is a good day, at least that's the way I look at it.

I managed a ~12" bow near the bubbler, and had one a little bigger that I long-distance released. Both of 'em on a size 22 gray scud and in riffled water. As I worked my way toward the Y-pool, the water settled down and I saw a lot more fish, but they all ignored my flies. Well, some of them ran from the flies.

I enjoyed the afternoon. It was fun talking to you guys.
    Cheers,
