  1. 1st Day in VT

    Hey all-

Wishing anyone daring enough to go out (high water and such) in VT, a great 1st day of trout season!

    Good luck!

Do you know of good places to go near Richmond?

Hmm- A couple places up near Jericho/Essex...The Browns River used to be good; haven't been there in a couple years though...

Used to fish near the middle school in Jericho.

    Best!

sesro1978, I had a great time in VT. I caught 5 and 6 lb smallies; no trout though... I fished several places but the flow was still a bit high and the temperature probably too low. I will go back soon!

    Thanks,

    Truchas.

Where abouts did you end up going?

    sesro1978,

I went to the Little, Huntington and Winooski rivers. I also went to other creeks whose names I don't remember at the moment, Lee maybe? It was a great weekend, especially if you consider the conditions of the water. I had a bit of a problem preventing tangles in my line due to high flow. I decided to keep the line in loops in my line line rather than letting it go wild on the water. It is harder though.

    Truchas.

Hmm, haven't been up there yet this year so I'm not sure. There's a guide service that guides on that river almost exclusively. He is located in Sharon or Bethel, VT; you may want to look up the website (I can't recall the name of the guiding service...)...

    Best,
    Seth

Thank You I will do that, any other recomendations to fish in Vt.

  10. Re: 1st Day in VT

I was up on the Winooski last week very swollen and difficult to fish.
I saw a few guys with waders on fishing the bank? and never really entering the river. That being said they were hitting in the quiet spots. I suspected the slower flows were way to warm so I went looking for deep water.
