I used to fish the Housatonic river back in the 90s. I live in Western Mass and a day would consist of getting on the Housatonic at sun up. Fish till noon or so. Drive east and hit the Farmington. That was a good day regardless of catching fish. More often or not I managed to get at least a couple of trout out of the Housatonic each trip. I haven't fished it in 20 years and am wondering what the trout fishing is like lately. Has anyone here fished it and if so are there still trout there?

Patrick from this site and yours truly fish the Hous frequently. The river has suffered from high water the past few years. The river is now truly non dam controlled and has natural flows. When the river is fishable, it is an excellent trout stream with incredible variety of hatches. The summer smallie fishing is off the charts.
