Thread: Replacement slotted foam for fly box?

  1. Default Replacement slotted foam for fly box?

Where can I find replacement slit or slotted foam for a double-sided box? The single rows have started to loosen on the ends and I'd like to replace them with the single sheet variety.

As an alternative what kind of glue would work better?

I don't know of any glue that will hold closed cell foam effectively over long periods of time. C&F boxes were really the only boxes that ever sold replacement foam sheets, however you could theoretically buy a 3mm sheet of tying foam and cut slits in it.

Some friends of mine actually have designed a fly box that will get rid of this issue and it is currently on kickstarter. They use silicone instead of foam. you should check it out. Its an intriguing idea.

In the past I have used these foam inserts for boxes that I built in the shop. You need to scrape it off of the original backing material with but it works fairly well.
