Default Alaska Fly Fishing From Cruise Ports?

Im going to Alaska in mid June; 3 days on our own in Denali, then a cruise with stops in Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait, and Ketchikan. This is not a fishing trip, but I might fit in a fishing day if its an exceptional opportunity (scenery and fishing).

From what Ive read, Denali isnt that great for fishing (no problem, plenty else to see/do there). What about Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait, or Ketchikan? Is there great fishing near these places (away from the cruise crowds)? Any recommended guides?

Hi,

Are you going to take tackle with you, waders etc. or will you need an outfitter? I don't know anyone down in South East where your cruise is stopping but if you have gear and rent a set of wheels I can PM you with directions for fishing around Denali.

Trying to freshwater fish if you're on a Cruise can be a pain unless you go with a guide. As to the type of fishing each of these ports will have salt water charters.

The thing you want to scope down on is how long will the boat actually be in port. That can be a real limiting factor.

Ard thanks for the offer, but after some more planning, well be spending our time in Denali sightseeing in the park.

Fae Not bringing equipment. If I fish, it will be with a guide. Weve planned outings in Juneau and Skagway. I might be able to do a fishing trip from Ketchikan or Icy Strait (will have 8:00 am to 6:00 pm free in both ports).
