Yesterday 4/28 was t first day of the season for many freshwater rivers and lakes in California, including most of the Sierras. I know a couple of old-timers that go to Crowley no matter what. I stayed home and caught a few small wild rainbows on a quiet year-round C&R stream. I loaned my friend's son (a decent spin-caster) a tenkara rod with a tiny woolly bugger, and he easily picked up on it, no big learning curve to tease those fish.

How about the rest of you?

I'm going to wait until Monday, I have this small creek I want to fish for Brookies, after the weekend I'm pretty sure I'll have it all to myself.

There are 3 things about the opener I don't care for.
Fishermen heroes.....weekend type..
Freshly stocked fish.....
or, the need to ambush a fish at dawn after he hasn't seen a fly in 6 months.
These are low bar settings to me....
Especially when the T is open year-round.
Not sure why anyone would expose themselves to the bro-hoard either........
But, yes I fished the opener, by myself.........and it was good.
