Thread: Santa Ynez River Flies!

  1. Default Santa Ynez River Flies!

    Hello there!
I am pretty new to fly fishing, and I am about to buy some flies for trout and bass fishing. I am going to fish in Santa Ynez River and probably Lake Cachuma. Sooo my question would be which flies or what kind of color/pattern is good, and if you know any good online store with reasonable prices? Thanks!

If you don't know what is hatching and the river you are fishing is not a rich one then try theserospecting with parachute hairs ears, parachute adams and even a swung wet fly (like a Light Cahill, or a soft hackle) in the morning. These flys imitate a number of different insects and if you are not an experienced fly fisherman (as I am not) then throwing these patterns will cover your bases without getting too technical.
