The 2 views a small stream fly fisherman always wants to experience.

1. The bend of a 3 weight, in which the expected 8" fish is much larger, and the unexpected takes you into a plunge pool and refuses to get out:

2. That moment that your 3 weight reel finally gets its drag used and you see your backing, which you've never seen since you got your reel spooled 7 years ago:

Needless to say, the trip the local creek this week was a bit.... surprising. Wet wading is an art form. The wet wader is part acrobat, part ninja and part hydrologist. And I wouldn't have it any other way, because it puts me into spots that the average person will never see. And apparently puts me onto fish that the average person did not know existed in this particular area.

I'm glad that my resolution to get on the water more is paying dividends. Cannot wait to get out there again, and now that I know my footing, getting further away from the crowds will be even easier.

Great report. You never know what a small stream will be holding, do you?

Thanks for sharing.
