Ten years ago this June I paid my first visit to the U.S.A. and my second to Canada at the end of an 11 month trip around the world.
I took an awful lot of photos that year and I thought I'd post some here and let you guess or state where they were taken. Just a bit of fun to pass the time.
I appreciate that it would be easy to search Google for similar images - it's completely up to you if you choose to cheat - you'd only be cheating yourself! :tsk:

This first batch are from North America but not in the true order of my journey. If you are enjoying the idea I'll add others from the trip later.

You can have 1 Point for guessing the State or Province, 3 Points if you can pinpoint my location!
Answers and points will posted in a couple of days.

#1 is Grand Teton National Park, I believe.
#2 is somewhere east of Yellowstone.
I'm stumped on the others.

Cool thread. #3 sure does remind me of this little ghost town up high near the headwaters of the Taylor River in CO. Can't remember the name.

Last call for any more entrants.
Given time zone differences I'll post the first 5 answers at around 2 pm GMT, which I think will give most of you time for a cuppa coffee over breakfast and a last go at 'guessing'.

OK! Round One answers and results .....

Photo No.:
1) Moulton barn in Grand Teton, Wyoming. The National Park where 'Shane' was filmed and one of my favourite places in all my travels.

2) A few miles South of Carway, R. 89, Montana.

3) Garnet Ghost Town, Montana. Took a long drive up a dirt track thinking it was a 'short cut' and found myself here by accident. Interesting spot if you're ever passing.

4) Bryce Canyon N.P., Utah. Not too far from the Grand Canyon, well worth the trip!

5) The Joaquin River, California. A bit unfair that one, but it was sooo beautiful.

The Results:
eastfly66 = 0
MCHammer = 3 (for Grand Teton NP)
silver creek = 2 (for (3) Montana and (4) Utah)
westcoast = 0
dynaflow = 0
flafly14 = 0
Matt4.0 = 3 (for Grand Teton NP)

Well done to MCHammer, Matt4.0 and silver creek for getting off the mark in the first round!
5 more coming up shortly. I'll try and throw a few more recognisables in the mix as I know the last lot were a bit obtuse.

Round Two: Open to all-comers, new and old. Get just one pic spot on and you're equal top of the league! :)

As before, 1 point for the correct State or Province, 3 points for the exact location (and I won't be overly pedantic on that).
I'll add some cryptic clues to help narrow things down. ;)

6) A Noisy Sombrero?

7) A falling French river, perhaps?

8) Paper-boy's Pad? No Rosebuds here!

9) Did the Light Brigade ride here, as Tennyson said? Shurely shome mishtake!

10) Actor Gary's no youngster anymore! But he's on the up and up! Or ..... is this Paul Robeson's favourite river?

Good luck to all! Answers in a couple of days .....
