Does it make much difference whether you use regular nymphs or beadhead nymphs? Intended use is for trout. Are regular "store-bought" nymphs tied with lead wire for weight? With BH does it much matter what color BH?

Thanks

Metal beads are used as extra weight to get the fly down deep. Coloured plastic or glass beads are more for appearance as an attractor. Store bought will generally be listed as weighted if they have lead under the body. The colour of the bead head might or might not make a difference, every day is different. Every fly has its day, colours do make a difference and that is a topic all on its own.. :wiggle:
hope this helps a bit :fishing:

As Darwin said, day to day things change...There are days where the fish like that little extra flash a bead head gives you; possibly they see it as the gas bubble on a nymph that's about to hatch. Some days the fish are more interested in a little more subtle pattern. The best thing you can do is fill your flybox with a good assortment of nymphs, weighted and unweighted. If you're tying your bead heads, go with different sizes and colors; you might also want to look at the glass beads you'll find at your local craft store.
