I'm new to fly fishing (and this forum) and have only fished a matter of hours at the Cottonwood Lakes in the Eastern Sierras...I'm taking a trip to Yosemite mid October and will be camping in the valley at Upper Pines. I know the Merced runs right through there and I was wondering what kind of fishing I could expect to encounter (if any) in mid October for that area. Any suggestions on what to use or any advice for a beginner would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Mireland- Welcome, I guess with lot's of fishing pressure and low water fishing can get tough and trout get pounded in a lot of places. I don't want to "spot burn" on an open forum, but I'll send you a PM with some general info that might be helpful as a place to start.
