I've fished the Taylor River some up by Almont and they've got some really big rainbow in there that come out of the reservoir.
But I really like the whole Gunnison/Crested Butte area and that's a real nice looking little college they've got there in Gunnison. Now you are gonna have some pretty nippy winters 'cause it's real high thru there, but all and all it's a great area IMO. Good luck !

My oldest son and Ben have been hunting and fishing together quite a bit now and I am excited for some updated pictures!

They sent me a text from the duck blind the other day but still no pics!

I'm in Montrose. The Gunni offers some of the best fly fishing waters in the state. Although the Taylor river has some good fish, it's very very hard to fish. If your flies aren't presented correctly, or if the look even the least bit out of place, the fish will literally move out of the way of a fly coming twards them and resume their original pos. after the fly has passed. (That's if you can even get a spot to fish with all of the crowds year 'round)
