Default Re: What is this?

I have seen fish with a serious spine disorder like this before. Some fish, just like people are born with a spinal disorder but most times it is from an injury when younger. I have seen fish that have this as a result of electro shocking. It doesn't happen to many of them but it will 'kink' up an ocassional fish. More than likely it is a either a birth defect or an old injury.

More than likely, this fish was simply just born like this. I have worked in several trout hatcheries, and it's amazing to see how many fish have these little mutations. Most do not live very long, but some do. Nothing to be concerned about, just something that happens in nature.
