    Default Vail Quick Access

I am headed to Vail for Spring Break the second week in March and after I put my son in ski school I was wondering if there is a close access to trout for a few hours while he is skiing? Thanks.

Tim, the Eagle River will be your best bet, unless there's something I'm forgetting closer to Vail. There are a number of public accesses along the stretch, but you'll have to head a little west on I-70 (~15-30 miles) towards Edwards, Eagle, and Wolcott. A search for Eagle River fishing should yield some good results. Have fun!

Gore Creek is another good option although I don't think you can fish the section that runs right through the middle of Vail Village.

You can. And it's actually quite good right at the water treatment plant. Warm water is pumped out and it stays ice free. Lots of fish will congregate here in the winter.

Depending on the weather and ice off, you can fish under I-70 at Minturn and in Wolcott across and down the street from the post office. Two EXCELLENT spots.
