Leaning towards Yellowstone, Gallatin, Madison, big sky area. Let you know how it goes!

I'm 45 min from RMNP so I probably under value it as a destination. East of YNP, out of Cody, the Shoshone is absolutely incredible. Tim Wade runs a great trip to get you started and there are less crowds.

Having lived in both places, I vote Big Sky - it's prettier and the fishing will be just as good that time of year. The Poudre is probably gonna fish like **** for a long time after the fire(s) last year... the Big Thompson is ok but not my fav... I dunno.

That having been said, there' a lot (a... lot) more for a non-fisher to do in Colorado - so take that into account.

What would Estes Park be like in early Oct? Non fishing wife and I are considering EP, so far good info.

Anybody know anyone willing to take a NOOB fishing in the Rockies ???
