Montana Closures

Big Horn National Rec Area placed large concrete blockades to close off the Big Horn River access at both the Afterbay at Ft. Smith and the Three Mile (Lind) access. It's part of the government shut down. Yellowstone has also closed it's gates. Very sad. Please pass the word to anybody heading to the Horn or the Park. -k-

That sort of stuff is going on around the country. The dams on the Mississippi are Corp of Engineer managed. They have blocked access to their boat launches. The ramps are never attended with personnel so it really makes no sense. An attempt to get more of the public to care about the shutdown I can only assume. Hopefully it all ends real soon.

I read that Wisconsin is refusing closures.

That was the chief complaint about Ft. Smith.
Big Horn Natl Rec Area rangers don't patrol it much any way.

I believe the Big Horn Access and Mallards Landing are State operated
and will be open.

Very sad deal.
