Default Wyoming

Spent the last 3 weeks fishing the North Platte.
Made it thru the storm.
Dry fly fishing almost non existent.
Nymphs and streamers more than made up for lack of surface activity.
Excellent numbers and good size fish, from the pickaroon campground to the white(grey) reef and all areas in between.
High country is beautiful with fresh snow(never been in the rockies with snow before).
Great trip will do again soon.
John

Sounds like a good trip for the fishing, if not the weather. Just driving through Wyoming's wind and snow is enough for me. I've heard that it was pretty cold there for awhile. Were you camping?

Yes I was camping , but had enough sense to get into a motel before the storm on the 4th,stayed in the motel for three nights before getting back into the tent.

Good to hear you had a good time and made it to a motel before the storm hit. I talked to one guy that was up on the mile when it hit, tried to get back to town but the snow drifts were just to big so he went back to the mile and waited it out. I also was camping on the mile, but packed up and spent Tuesday evening camping at the Grey Reef dam and then met up with Chase and Rod when they came in on Wed. Rod had rented a cabin behind the general store/gas station in Alcova, boy was that a nice setup. It had a fully stocked kitchen so all we had to do was provide the groceries. I sure was glad we were inside when that blizzard hit.

You fished some prime areas of the North Platte river, in one of the best times of the year. Glade you had a good time, and got into the fish. Yes you have to be careful of the weather in Wyoming this time of year.
