That's great news!

I'm not a local. I'm from SLC. I just love fishing YNP more than any place in the world.

I've never fished the Yellowstone outside of the park. It should be a very big river this year w/ all the snow. I've fished it a few times in the park near Tower Falls. There is a nice trail that takes you straight down to the river, and then you can hike upstream for many miles to get away from the crowds. If you fish the river near Gardner, then you can catch Yellowstone Cutties, Rainbows, Browns and White fish. If you fish by Tower Falls it's all native yellowstone cutthroat...and the fish are just a little bit smaller too, but I've still caught some really nice ones in this stretch.

Tower Falls is really quite close to the turn off to the Slough Creek parking lot. See the map:
