Default Green River Update

Had the good fortune to float the Green below Big Piney with McNerney today. Didn't catch a lot of fish (only one actually), but he was a 21" beauty. Had an interesting pink tint to his color that I haven't seen in a brown before (though I've not caught many browns). You can barely pick it up in the photo.

The flows are up around 1500 cfs and the water was pretty murky.

We did see a couple of rises at the put in, but none for the rest of the float. Hopefully the water will clear back up before runoff starts. Thanks Larry for getting us on the water.

It was a fun day but started kind of rough when we found that I had left my reel bag back at the house. Luckily Seth brought a back up 5 wt. The initial plan was to throw streamers all day, but with no reels for the 7 wt, we just improvised and used small streamers on the 5 wt. It was a great day on the water, but it was way off color, maybe 6 inches of visibility due to the recent snow melt the past couple of days. It was looking like a skunk until Seth hooked into that big Brown late in the day. Still loads of fun getting the drift boat out for the first time this year.

Seth and Larry, looks like one Brown was worth it! That type of water, for Taneycomo and the White River (Mo and AR) is a guides choice for throwing toward big browns lying close to the bank. "The drug is in the tug!"
Thanks for the pics and update.

Rick: You're right, Seth hasn't been throwing streamers for long, but if this keeps up he will become addicted to it for sure.

I think the addiction has already begun. Especially once I get my 7 weight in the mail on Monday.
