I went skiing at Taos yesterday. Not a lot open and manmade snow. Not my snow preference, but we have season passes and are going to get our money's worth out of them.
NM 68 is the normal road to take, but NM Gas Company is rerouting pipe and there's significant delays. So coming back, I went through Carson and Ojo Caliente. To my surprise, the Rio Ojo Caliente was running pretty good south of Ojo. In a normal year, I wouldn't expect it to be running at all, but this year is anything but normal. I'm guessing that the snow in the Tusas is running off due to the above normal temps we've been experiencing.
I expect our fire season to be brutal this year. I also expect that streams are going to be lower than normal, with attendant stresses on fish and other wildlife.
I saw a picture of the snow stake in the Valles Caldera. Spotty patches of snow around it, but no accumulation to speak of.
We're really hurting and I don't see how we can recover.
