Lots of nice water running in Montana this year
but caution should be advised. The Big Horn at
St. Xavier for example, (ie. Downstream of Ft. Smith)
is listed at 10,900 which is extremely high.

While it's nice every side channel on the Horn
will have float-able water stopping to
re-rig one's line or photograph one's catch might
not be a guaranteed stop as there's fewer places
to set anchor or slow the boat.

Might be time to dust off your PFD.
Actually Montana Law requires one
per occupant any way.

Have fun out there.

PS - Fish will stack up in any slow water.
Bring heavier split shot - weather will improve this week. But don't quote me on that . . . (WEATHER). :D

Here a link for the flows

https://waterdata.usgs.gov/MT/nwis/current/?type=flow

6-27-19 Updated: Should be down to 8,500cfs by Friday night.
Info - Thanks to Friends of the Big Horn. -k-

June 24th, the Big Hole River at Wise River is running a little fast for this time of year, about 3,300 C7’s. It makes for a fast drift in a boat and makes wading tough. Another two weeks and it should come down to prime.

Just out of curiosity anybody checked out the Wise River which of course is a tributary of the Big Hole right at the town of same name ?
Great little bar/restaurant in the town.

Wise River is fishing well right now and will be good for the entire summer.
There are two restaurants / bars in the town of Wise River with the Wise River Club being the original.
Further up along the Big Hole River is the town of a Wisdom with the Crossings restaurant.

My son and I were on the Bighorn on Saturday. Wow. The flow was 9500 I believe. We were wading. The water was high and fast. Talking to other wade fisherman, it was tough going and nobody was catching fish. The guys in boats did better; but, not great. Hopefully levels will drop by the end of this month. I hear the Missouri is doing great right now. Maybe I'll head over there this next weekend.
