Default Lower Arkansas, Middle Fork S. Platte?

Anybody been on the lower portion of the Arkansas between Canon City and Salida lately? How about the middle fork of the South Platte? Looking to take a little day trip on Monday and wanted to go somewhere away from the Denver area. Would love ANY information on either of these two rivers, even if it just general tips like places to fish or patterns. Whatever.
