The first time I was looking at the beautiful fish like this. It was so rich and so diverse.

Can't believe I missed this post. Probably because I've been too busy moving and working to fish "Under a Sea Robin, lies a Fluke". How many times the skippers said that then we complained about catching "birds" lol.

They're cooking (and eating ) sea robin on the Bizarre Foods tv program tonight.

I've eaten them before, they're actually pretty good.

There is a Sea Robin Tournament in Huntington LI to benefit Wounded Warriors . Last year they held the weigh in at Mill Dam Park and had two gourmet master chefs from Manhatten preparing all different Sea Robin dishes!
Many times when we are catching them on North Shore beaches people will ask if they can have them before we release them . It doesn't bother me but my son gets annoyed so I made him up a Tee Shirt.
On the the front of the shirt is a nice Striper picture and on the back ( which faces the people on the beach it reads:
    Sea robins. $1
    Porgies. $2
    Bluefish. $3
    Stripers YOU CANT AFFORD THEM
    SO DON'T ASK !
When he wears it nobody seems to bother him anymore!

Once you take the head off and skin it it looks and tastes like a Whiting. Not many of us left who knows what a Whiting looks like though lol.

Whiting (Silver Hake) used to catch them by the garbage can full at the Mud Hole in January ! Not as much anymore!
I actually had the All Tackle World Record for them at one time but it has since been broken by a guy in Maine. Good eating! I also had Robins and they aren't bad defiantly similiar tasting to Ling and Whiting!

    Boz,

That fourth picture fooled me. I thought you had lost your sunglasses then stepped on them.
