We do both wade and have a poling skiff. I have a Action Craft 1620 fly fisher.

The only problem with sneaking off on a 10 day fishing trip is catching up when you return! I think I have finally dug out from under all the customer requests while i was gone and had a chance to get back to thinking about fishing :-)

Here are the flies that I used on the trip (they are actual battle weary veterans!). I had others with me but these are the ones the guides would reach for when you opened your fly box!

The popper is the NYAP (Not Your Average Popper) and was given to me by Capt Jesse - it draws some pretty violent strikes! For the GT brush flies, the guides like black/grey (mine was donated to a big GT on the last day) and the red/black & grey/silver best (think Mullet and Milk fish)

If you're not familiar with the fly on the bottom left, it is the worm fly and the bones love it! The Christmas Island specials in the middle were the heavy lifters - sparely tied, not bushy! The fly on the far right is a fly the Brits cooked up for Triggers - note the extra heavy hook. It worked very well. It would have been better with brass eyes but they used what they had...

  6. Default Christmas Island Chronicles

The guides choices arenít a million miles away from my first choice Seychelles patterns. Top to bottom, left to right

    Fat boy, Brush Fly x2
    NYAP
CXI Special, Flexo crab, Merkin, Bedhead, Turneffe crab (the last 2 for trigger fish)

Iíd probably add a decent spawning shrimp pattern and I havenít got any of my favourite poppers, called the Reaper, left (getting some made)

    Regards,

    Trevor
