  1. Re: Fishing with dogs and shock collars and bears

Oh for God sake. You OBVIOUSLY have NO CLUE as to how a training collar is used. I do not know of a SINGLE trainer that would over stimulate any dog intentionally. As a matter of fact, very seldom...
  2. Re: Official panfish-Bass Fly Swap 2019-20

The spiders are not weighted at all. They stay buoyant until the chenille soaks up water. Once the chenille is saturated, the flies become slightly negatively buoyant and sink very slowly. This...
  3. Re: Official panfish-Bass Fly Swap 2019-20

    Scott & Trouter,
I tie the legs on long for several reasons.
    1. The parachuting action the legs give as they drop, or rise as you twitch, is the main attraction for the fish
    2. I tie them long...

  5. Re: Official panfish-Bass Fly Swap 2019-20

My flies are ready. I give a friend a couple of dozen spiders yearly, for Christmas, so I was already more or less in production mode.
    Where do I send them?
  6. Re: Official panfish-Bass Fly Swap 2019-20

A quick question. In swaps that I have done before elsewhere, the participants tied 13 flies. 12 for the swap and one for the swapmeister for hosting the swap. Is that customary here?

    Winter Projects

Is anyone planning on any winter projects on their kayaks? I fished some funky waters this spring/summer. I'm planning on emptying the boats out, flipping them over, then scrubbing the bottoms and...
  9. Re: Flies and/or Supplies for Project Healing Waters and Casting for Recovery (2019)

I was sitting here, last night, thinking about what sort of flies to tie for Project Healing Waters/Casting For Recovery when an idea popped into my head.
I had an aunt that died a couple of years...

    Re: Hair/Foam Bug

A little better photo of the beetle pattern I tie. I've also had great success with this pattern on a Trout stream. We Beetle Bomb rock ledges and the Brown Trout love them.

Without going out to the boat shed and grabbing one from the box, Here is a photo with the Japanese Beetle in a Breams mouth.

    Question.....
Are all of the programs geared towards Trout fishing or are some geared towards Bass/panfish?
I sent some Bass/panfish flies to a local chapter earlier this year and was wondering if...

    Hair/Foam Bug

I had a lot of success this past summer with a foam Japanese Beetle, catching a lot of both Bass and Bream on it. I was sitting here one day thinking about something along the same line, but bigger,...
  14. Re: Fly fishing performance apparel - what do you need/want?

As I mentioned before adding a perceived notion that this "gear" is specifically for fly fishing is a farce and its basically to add $$ to the item being sold. These companies know that if they...
  15. Re: Fly fishing performance apparel - what do you need/want?

I've noticed that when you add the words "Fly Fishing" to an item, the number of $.00 goes up exponentially, very similar to how the word "Marine" added to diesel fuel, adds more $.00.
  16. Re: Fly fishing performance apparel - what do you need/want?

Check Grundens website. They have ventured into breathable and lightweight gear in the last few years. Their stuff is tough as nails

I get the hemo/cutter combo. The ones I buy are like 3 for $10. I buy 6 pairs every couple of years.
  19. Re: So what's your favorite junk fly, where is your line?

Now you're talking. I'll use ANY method I need to, to catch a fish. The Fly rod is what I ALWAYS reach for first, but I'm not above picking up any kind of rod to get the job done!! Well Said!!
  20. Re: So what's your favorite junk fly, where is your line?

I have no boundaries here. If I can catch a fish, I honestly do not care WHAT kind of fly it takes to accomplish that goal. The way I see it, If I tied it,and, it works...All good. If you want to be...
