Sounds like relatively generic late spring to mid summer bug patterns or trusted standby's any where that will workout best. In short - no "specal" patterns or anything....

At least for Reels (never tried the other stuff) flyfishing benefactories is great. I bought the Metolious in a 3-4 for my 2wt (midwest customs - love it!!!) and it's great. It feels really solid...

Tie a few non flies. Meaning, sit down with a size 12 or 14 hook some thread and 1 material - say peacock or pheasant tail. start out just starting the thread and whip finishing. then razor blade...

I like Whitlocks and Pat Cohens crayfish flies and have a hybrid I like.

that said, for trout, one that works awesome is a super simple fly.

Weight it with nonlead wrapped on the shank, or bead...

Wow - you guys put out some good info... The bad thing is that at that price point, it seems to come down to Allen, this FFbenefactories Snake and Colton's CRG II (have a 3-4 from them and love it)....

1.) Skip 2 flies for a while. I always found 1 easier to nail a drift on, start there, and when the control is dialed in, add a second fly....
