Re: Best switch rod for the money

The old site was good but Bob/et. al. NAILED IT with the update. The great thing about Bob's rods is they are seriously tested by real fishermen, real conditions, etc. Pro's to Newbies get their say....

Thumbs up So who doesn't have a 'stach' of candy bars in their car/truck?

Had to laugh when I read this as, all but #3, I've got a bag of the mini-bars ready to go. Those small one's are just two bites, but just enough:

All the Halloween Candies, Ranked from Best to...

Re: Best switch rod for the money

Both are (were) 'pupose built'so flip a coin if you can't get one to cast. That said, I have the Echo and no complaints. For close in work, lots of that here on the upper Rogue River, this is the...

Re: Best knot for tungsten putty?

+1 to Ard's/et al's comments above.

Re: Fishing Vehicle

Few years back now 'Ex' came over from Montana (why move there I have no idea to this day but she's happy as a 'clam at high tide') to buy a Subaru. The 'why' of this is Oregon has no sales tax....

Re: San Juan Oct 17-19

Good read going here.

For several years our Game Dept asked us to carry a hole punch and (can't remember where now for the life of me) punch a hole in a fin. Letter coding on the back of the punch...

Someone had...

Re: Cut back or loop ?

"(Why people waste their time with tippet rings, I will never understand )"

With a regular mono leader a tippet ring (probably) doesn't bring a lot to the party. With a furled leader (regardless...

Re: Small flies = BIG fish

Welcome to Steelhead fishing on the upper Rogue River.

Most folks are tossing flies the size of a dead chicken but not me. Over the years I've found that a size 6 to 10 is the hook size of choice....

Went to a 'mini' one of these years ago, LOVED IT! Most of these tiers have forgotten more than I ever knew.

Re: Fly Fishing Go Bag/Bug Out Bag

A rectangular 'laundry tub' covers my bets save for the rods. Those are in the garage and lumped together based upon the type of fishing expected. Big stuff on the bottom and 'small stuff' on top. As...

Re: Question about fly line maintenance

Although a 'dirty' fly line in our waters is a pretty rare thing .. lake fishing can be a different ball game. As S&S notes the removal of 'dirt' is the key. More this or that to finish up, with the...

Re: Cutthroat furled leaders

Length of a furled leader + tippet (just in my HO) is pretty much dictated by the length of the rod and the size of the fly (add weighted or not to that). With a rod that short (again this is just a...
