    Re: Small stream Stories and Pictures;

Slipped out early this morning, an itch needed to be scratched. Going higher and early is the only way this time of year. Water is getting low and afternoon temps are in mid to upper 80s.

    Re: Small mouth fishing

Drive along Riverside Drive, hit the gravel pullouts ...there’s also some county parks that provide access. As already noted use caution wading, ledges will have you stepping off into the deep end.

Only another 9,000+ casts until the next one.

    That’s a great fish.
  7. Re: Split Shot for Unweighted Flies while "Euro Nymphing"?

Once again I agree, what I find interesting is the school of thought that in turbulent waters a single nymph should be fished due to that chaotic flow. The rational being a second fly in this...
  8. Re: Split Shot for Unweighted Flies while "Euro Nymphing"?

I agree completely, I find it interesting that Lance Egan an accomplished competition angler and member of team USA prefers his heavier fly on the tag or as the “upper” fly.

    My conclusion was...

Re: Single Nymph for Euro Nymphing Newbie?

I’m guessing it’s more to do with the cast than the actual act of fishing the drift. Also the length of you tag and the length of your tippet may be an issue.

I know Lance Egan prefers to fish...

    Re: Saltwater Fish Photos....Post Here!

Looking at the rods in some of those pics, maybe about half, I’d hazard a guess and say not. Doesn’t make them any less of a fish ....but likely not all caught on a fly
  11. Re: Dropper Fly off of Tippet Ring with Commercial Euro Nymph Leader?

I create my own euro leaders with a tippet ring and have found that some larger flies (stonefly nymphs) will definitely cause tippet line twisting. However when I fish smaller size #14 and below I...
  12. Re: Arrangement of nymphs when using multiple flies

I think the concept of public waters in Europe is pretty rare when compared to what exists in the states. Not to say there aren’t any, but in the UK there are regional bye laws that can deviate from...

As there are in the USA, to say it is “illegal in Europe”, is inaccurate.
  15. Re: Arrangement of nymphs when using multiple flies

I think your are confusing FIPS competition rules with local rules ...much the same as any FIPS compliant tournament in the USA.

Re: Banner Elk, Boone NC area?

Stop by Due South Outfitters - they pointed me in the direction of some decent brook trout water. Need to be willing to hike a little and/or Creek hike on some of the streams I found in the area.
